Well, since I had already scheduled they day off in hopes of birding Finley
my wife and I decided to use the beautiful sunny morning and see what was
happening in MacDonald Forest, just north of Corvallis.

Flycatchers are coming back! We found one Pacific-Slope Flycatcher quietly
working one area. Farther up the hill we saw one Hammond's Flycatcher and
heard several others.

More warblers are also showing up. The Orange-Crowned Warblers are more
territorial now. We saw and heard several Wilson's Warblers. There was
one Black-Throated Gray Warbler. On the top of the hill was one warbler
call that drove us nuts. At first the call was more like Black-Throated Gray,
then it was more like Hermit, but when we finally saw the bird it was a
beautiful male Townsend's Warbler. A breathtaking sight!
