re: Status of quail in cities in Oregon

I used to have California Quail in my Christmas Bird Count area
in west Eugene every year, but in the last five years or so
there's been a lot of construction in the area - Shopko, Safeway,
Fred Meyer, etc. Parking lots don't work as quail habitat, and
the quail are gone. There are still a couple of places where
pheasants are managing to hang on, though.
