An incredible gull/pigeon story. It reminds me of a report on the Portland RBA
several years ago. Someone saw a Western (I recall, but perhaps glaucous-win
ged) gull which had been sitting for some time next to a Harlequin duck on the
rocks at Tillamook Bay suddently reach over, peck the duck soundly on the head,
and then swallow it whole. Certainly more excting to watch the the normal sta
