I'll be visiting Port Angeles 8/30 and 8/31 on a family trip. I may
have some time in the morning(s) to bird, probably not more than
2 or 3 hours. We'll also be taking afternoon trips with a possibility
of birding then but less likely as they will be more family oriented.
I've visited the area before several times and have been
to Dungeness Spit a few times. I've driven out Ediz Hook a couple of times
too.
Questions:
1. Can anyone recommend any other good birding locations closeby?
2. The only possible life bird that I can think of that might be in the
area is Wild Turkey. (I don't have my Olympic checklist at hand)
Any known locations for them?
3. Any chance of seeing Rosy Finches at Hurricane Ridge?
4. Anything else to be looked for at Hurricane Ridge?
5. Are there any Tweeters in the area or who have contacts in the
area in case of rarities showing up, staked out birds etc.?
(I haven't checked my ABA directory yet)
6. Any recommended locations on the trip up (I-5 to Olympia, then
101 to P.A.) that are close to the route and possibly
interesting for my wife and 2 small (2 and 5) children?
My email access before then will be only Friday 8/26 and Sunday 8/28.
Thanks in advance.
Please reply directly to me as I am currently in the digest mode and
may not get out of it until at least Friday!
