stewart (the adult male peregrine falcon) has a new girlfriend
named bell (belle?). video tapes were shown on the news last night,
detailing their courtship activities as they occurred in downtown
seattle.
the young female peregrine is alive and (presumably) doing well.
the last report that i recieved is that she hasn't been seen for
some time (but she hasn't been discovered with an injury, either).
tragedy struck the young male peregrine (remember him? he broke
a bone on the left side of his lower mandible when he crashed
into a downtown building). the fracture healed very nicely so
he was released again and was reported to be doing quite well.
two weeks later (this is about a week ago), he was found on
the ground in fremont with a compound fracture of one of his
wings. after some debate, he was euthanized.
sometimes, birds can really break your heart. but at least the
young hen is out there somewhere.
