A friend I met at the ABA convention wants to go birding, primarily
shorebirding, this weekend. I'd like advice on the most likely areas now.
On Saturday, Ocean Shores, Bowerman Basin, and Westport were
terrible--only the expected godwits and curlews at Tokeland made the trip
halfway rewarding. I believe a couple of weeks ago someone reported that
the usually good lake and mudflat on Whidbey Island was drying up; is it
any good now? Has anyone found goodly numbers of shorebirds, or
especially interesting species, lately? All advice greatly appreciated.
