Yes, there are apparently a handful of Ross' Gull records from Oregon. Lorna
and
I drove down and saw the one at Newport in April of 1993. Lorna was
disappointed
(I wasn't) that it wasn't an adult. She's been nagging for a look at the
McNary
bird because it is a nice pink bird.
The McNary bird makes me wonder if the previous Oregon birds might also have
followed the Columbia River down to the Oregon coast. Perhaps this bird is
the
same from Newport, now an adult. There are numerous (?) records from
across
the North American continent.
Question: where do our Bonaparte's Gulls come from. Do they share a breeding
area
with Ross' Gulls somewhere?
