Well, Dennis, ever the scientist. Alan Richards and I went to see the
gull on Thursday, leaving Seattle (myself) about 10:00 pm Wed night, and
meeting Alan in Longview at about 11:40. I told my supervisor and
several of my co-workers that I was taking a day of annual-leave to try
to see a rare bird. Most were very interested in how many of them there
were, and where they are normally found. When I told them that there was
only one, and that normally this species hangs out in northern Siberia or
Greenland, they were very impressed.

I've no knowledge of what Alan did about the day away from the office.
It was a great bird, and it seems we went to see it in just the nick of time.

I really enjoy your contributions to tweeters!
