Subject: "Bird skins" -- needed by Seattle Audubon

Seattle Audubon Society uses "bird skins" in the FUN (Finding Urban
Nature) program. If you find "window-bangers" or road kill, please wrap
the bird in several layers of plastic, put it in your freezer (hope your
family is not squeamish!--it's for Science!), and call Keith Geller at
322-1695. These bird skins help kids learn a lot about birds.

Just a note of caution, though.... Often the "window-bangers" are just
stunned; if you do a little gentle CPR, --a soft rubbing on the breast of
the bird-- and leave them alone, they may come around. Just, _please_,
keep the family cat away while the bird comes to, again.

However it turns out, you'll do good for the world. Thx--EB

[Please note: This is in response to all the dead-bird notes of late--]
