I think they are relatively common in areas with appropriate food and cover
and with habitat corridors to wilder areas. Out here in Woodinville I have
a small flock of a little over a dozen that frequent my feeder from October
till late April. I have found that hen scratch from the feed store is their
favorite food, I spread it on the ground under the feeder. They also sample
suet, peanut butter, and feeder food (blk. oil sunflower and millet but I
don't know which they are eating). They are very agressive with each other
and interact with the squirrels and Juncos as well.
