Hello, this is Portland Audubon's Rare Bird Alert. This recording was
made Thursday, December 8th. If you have anything to add, call Harry Nehls
at 233-3976.

The ROSS' GULL has not been seen since DEC 1.

We've had no recent info on the WHOOPER SWAN.

There's still many eastern BLUE JAYS around, including 1 at North Plains,
[1] south of Newport, and 1 at the south meadow of Black Butte Ranch, near
Sisters.

The COSTA'S HUMMINBIRD reported from Agate Beach was reidentified as an
atypical ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD.

A PALM WARBLER is being seen at the South Jetty of Yaquina Bay. A GLAUCOUS
GULL was at the D River mouth at Linclon City DEC 3. A late BROWN PELICAN was
at Boiler Bay DEC 3.

There are now at least 4 or 5 TRUMPETER SWANS in the [TUNDRA] SWAN flocks in
the Forest Grove/Hillsboro area, with 2 wearing green collars. Thousands of
[NORTHERN] PINTAILS are also in that area, as well as many HOODED MERGANSERS.
A PRAIRIE FALCON was north of Hillsboro DEC 3. A flock of 34 [WESTERN]
MEADOWLARKS were near the Forest Grove ponds that day.

A hybrid female MALLARD x GADWALL was in the McNary dam Wildlife Area DEC 3.
There are still large numbers of gulls in the area, with BONAPARTE'S GULLS in
very much reduced numbers. Bonies [BONAPARTE'S GULLS] are also much reduced at
the John Day dam. A male OLDSQUAW was among the HORNED GREBE flocks at the
John Day dam DEC 4. And single female RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS were at McNary
and John Day dams DEC 4.

A male MALLARD x [AMERICAN] WIGEON hybrid was at the mouth of the Deschutes
River DEC 4, along with a large flock of CANVASBACKS. Four SNOW BUNTINGS were
reported at mile post 30, on Hwy 206, in Gilliam Co., DEC 5. At mile post 3,
near the town of Wasco, a flock of 300 HORNED LARKS containing a LAPLAND
LONGSPUR was seen.

A flock of 210 SNOW BUNTINGS were along Crow Creek Road, near Zumwalt, DEC 4.
Three [GRAY-CROWNED] ROSY-FINCHES and 15 HORNED LARKS were nearby. Six PINE
GROSBEAKS were in Joseph DEC 3. There are now large conspicuous flocks of
BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS in Wallowa Co. A flock of 27 BARROW'S GOLDENEYE were on
Pete's Pond, in Enterprise, DEC 4.

That's it for this week.
