This is Kas Dumroese with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington

Stan Kvern reports a YELLOW-BILLED LOON at the marina in Harrison,
Kootenai County, Idaho from December 1 through 3. It may still be
there, Stan hasn't gotten back to look for it. Try looking for it
from the marina, the rock jetty, or from Pine Street behind the
grain elevator. See Idaho DeLorme p. 60, halfway between b- and
c-1. Stan also reports a NORTHERN PYGMY-OWL at the east end of
Thompson Lake on December 1. To get there, head north out of
Harrison, cross the Coeur d'Alene River via the iron truss bridge,
turn right onto the first road. Take the next right over the bridge.
This will loop you around Thompson Lake and return you to Idaho 97.

Carole Vande Voorde observed a flock of about 80 SNOW BUNTINGS
about 0.25 south of Anatone, Asotin County, Washington, along
Washington 129, on December 7. They were near the power station
and some farm equipment. That same day, she also saw a single
LAPLAND LONGSPUR with Horned Larks at the top of the Anatone Grade
along Washington 129 just south of Asotin. The longspur was near
the corral at the top of grade. See Washington DeLorme p. 43, b-
to d-8.

Dave Holick reports PINE GROSBEAKS along Idaho 8 between Troy and
Deary, Latah County, Idaho on Sunday, November 27. I saw the
birds in the same locale, milepost 23, on Saturday, December 3.

Four BLUE JAYS were in the yard at 210 N. Grant in Moscow on
November 27 and again on December 3. This flock is persisting in
that neighborhood, generally being seen around 7 am, but they are
very unpredictable and as far as I know, not visiting any feeder
with any consistency.

My wife, Debbie, reports a BARN OWL in our timber on the south end
of Paradise Ridge about 5 miles south of Moscow. Give me a call

Elaine Thalnick (sp?) reports an AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN on the
Clearwater River just east of Lewiston, Nez Perce County, Idaho,
along US 12 near Potlatch Corporation, on December 2. See Idaho
DeLorme p. 54, a-1.
