Unknown in WA, as far as published literature is concerned. I don't know if
they might have specimens of it in the WSU collection that haven't been
reported. It would be interesting to see the photo(s). The Washington Bird
Records Committee doesn't consider subspecies records, but I'm going to
propose that we do so at some point, and this would be such a
consideration. Subspecies in their own way are just as interesting as
species, and ones recognizable in the field should be monitored whenever we
can (with just as much rigor attending the identification of an unexpected
one). If a "white-winged" Dark-eyed Junco appeared in Seattle, it would be
just as significant as a McCown's Longspur, say. And it would be good to
document that "pink-sided" juncos actually occur in the state, which
wouldn't surprise me.
