Hi Tweeters,

There are 250+ Bald Eagles at a small bay in the eastern Fraser Valley.

On Sunday Dec 11, I got a report from the conductor of an eastbound freight
train (the train at that moment was rousting about 20 Baldies out a single
tree at trackside when that lonesome whistle blew) of approx. 250--300 Bald
Eagles at Lake Errock in the eastern Fraser Valley. To reach this location,
drive E on the Loughheed Highway (Prov. Hwy 7) past Deroche to the village
of Lake Errock, and take a right on Harrison Bay Rd., (the second right
east of Deroche), park at a small parking area near the railway trx, walk
NE around a rocky bluff, and check out the bay (not Harrison Bay, though
there may be some along its shores); a salmon stream debouches into the
lake on its western side over a gravel bar, and it on this bar that the
eagles congregate. There may be other concentrations of eagles in the area,
such as along Hemlock Valley Rd. (where concentrations of 500-600 have been
observed at this time of the year, numbers depending on salmon availability
and whether the streams are unfrozen) and the vicinity of the Weaver Creek
Fish Hatchery.

If you visit this site would you please let me know if these directions
need modification or addition, and in addition, please let me know what
numbers you find there. You can e-mail me directly if you like at the
address below, or leave the numbers on the Vancouver BC Alert at (604)
737-9910.

Thanks, really appreciate it.
