Like the discussion on gulls. Thanks guys. Here in Wenatchee we only get
our
Glaucous-winged Gulls et al. a few at a time, so we get the chance to
study
them. Although we get some "pure" GWG, and I haven't heard of pure WGs this
far
upriver, the majority seem to show some degree of hybridization. This is
probably
a good sign that our birds are moving up the Columbia River from its
mouth.

Yesterday Lorna and I went looking for the white Gyrfalcon on Dodson Road.

Although we were never short on raptors, a Gyrfalcon was not to be found.
However, the weather was great, strictly shirtsleeve, flies buzzing all
around
us. On Rd I a few Yellow-rumps were feeding on the Russian Olives, and a
Marsh
Wren was squeeking along the Winchester Wasteway.

I can see why a Burrowing Owl might not bother to fly south yet. We seem to
get
reports of one or two each year.

Bohemian Waxwings seem to be on the move now. I had two flocks yesterday
in
Wenatchee. One to start off our trip list. Also saw a kestrel take berries
off
the same bush.
