Hi Tweeters,

According to Susan Herunter of Wildlife Rescue, the Vancouver BC Emperor
Goose that hurt its leg a couple of weeks ago and has been in care for the
last week had a dislocated right hip with the possibility of a break or
chip fracture at the head of the femur. They're keeping it for another week
to see if it can use its right leg without re-dislocation. If it can, it'll
be released near a.) wintering Brant, b.) eelgrass beds, and c.) away from
a place with overhead wires.

Otherwise, it is feeding well and, in what Susan says is a good sign, is
kicking and fighting against having to take its medicine. I'm not sure that
the phrase "feisty little sucker" has clinical validity, but it sure does
capture the flavor of the current human/Emperor Goose interactions at
Wildlife Rescue.
