I own a copy of "A Field Guide to the Birds of Japan"
published in English by the Wild Bird Society of Japan. I have never
birded in Japan, but the book looks excellent to me. Is this the best
field guide to Japanese birds? Is this the book you use? Is there a
better book?

I paid $25.00 for the book in California about 5 years ago. Today,
I believe that would be about 2,500 yen. How much would this book cost
in Japan?

Subject: The winter migratory birds in Japan

I think, the winter migratory birds came earlier than usual year in Japan
For example,

(1)Dusky-Thrush came about 2 or 3 weeks early.
(2)Many ducks came about 2 weeks early.
(3)Other winter migratory birds came 10 days early.(average)

Generally,The winter migratory birds in Japan come from Sakhalin or
eastern of North Asia. I think that these bird's were successful in
breeding well in this year. Because these birds are coming now without
breaking. It is showing that the migratory season is not early , but the
number of migratory birds is rich. If the season is early , the migratory
birds are coming early and are breaking early.

I want to know about these bird's breeding in this year.
successful or not successful.

Good Birding!
