I have heard that ravens will commute long distances - 60 or more miles one way - to
find good scavenging areas, such as around human populations. The ravens in the
Anchorage area come into town in the winter (not in the summer) from some
mysterious mountain abode n.e. of town, a long stream of them in the early morning
light. About 3:00 p.m. they head out of town again. We joke that they each have an
assigned dumpster.
