At one time the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma had a small number of
Western Grebes on display. However, I haven't been back since it now
costs me over $20 for my family to see the zoo.

As to summering birds, there is often a small flock of resting grebes
in Gig Harbor near the upper end. I seem to remember them there well
into what should be the breeding season. They're visible from the
road that wraps around the harbor.
