I am over near Winthrop,WA and waking up to the calls of lots of Poorwills.
These birds are singing a short (10 per 6 sec.)whistledd "poor it" with accent
on it. In contrast, birds in California sing a slower, "poor we ull" with accent
on the we (about 6 per 10 sec.) Has anyone done any work on regional variation
in their calls? We once recorded one on a Palo Alto, CA CBC that sounded like
these Winthrop birds.
