Yesterday (6/1) while birding in the Umptanum & Wenas areas, we spotted a
Wild Turkey 1/4 mile from the Wenas Campground on N Wenas Rd. I'm curious
as to the status of Turkeys in this region - are they introduced
periodically or have they established themselves as a permanent
population? Is information on introduction (e.g., when, where, how) of such
exotic game birds available from the state? When does an "introduced"
bird become "naturalized?"

As a separate aside, I don't know how many Tweeters subscribers caught
the news yesterday, but Seattle has at least one eyass Peregrine as of
6/1 (two more eggs should hatch within the next few days). Things should
get pretty active above downtown Seattle soon!
