Sharon asked me to port a Blue Grass conference into BirdServ so
I had to look into my routine, called FunKyGatE, and tweek it to
pick up this conference and make it publically available on
BirdServ at (602) 721-8719. While I was 'in there' I set up BirdServ
to also carry the Washington State conference (tweeters) and
the Cayuga Ny conference.

This means that the above mentioned conferences are now available to
fidonet systems to pick up as echos as well as for people to just
call the bbs and read.

I'd like to add the other regional birding conferences too. I'd like
to put up the MOS conference and the Oregon conference. I should
know the listserv addresses to these, but don't. Could someone
forward me those addresses to CWilliamson at PimaCC.Pima.EDU . Thanks!

If you call BirdServ with your modem set your communications to
8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and no parity (the usual default settings).
BirdServ is up to 14,000 baud but will accept calls from 1200 baud
modems. There is no online charge and people get instant access to
the message bases. There are also no files to speak of and sometimes
the bbs is offline for long periods processing messages through
FunKyGatE or just being rude. Also, when it is faxing out bird reports
to fax subscribers here in SE AZ, it not only might not answer, but
may answer and then hang up on you! HA!

It carries all the BIRDnnnn conferences and those are available as
fidonet feeds if you want to have a feed to your city. At this point
though, the gatewayed listserv conferences are just one-way, just
coming out of the listserv, and messages left by readers on BirdServ
on those conferences don't necessarily get posted back to the listserv.
It is however a good way to READ the messages (if it is not a long
distance call), or a good way to capture the messages into a log
file (if it is).
