So some corvids have cooperative breeding, have crows ever been shown to
do this? I ask because a pair recently had a fledgeling in our hedge and
every time I went out back (or if the dog was sniffing around the hedge -
she knew what was in there) the 2 crows would start cawing. Many times
however, they were joined by 2 more who would caw also. So I figured
they are another nesting pair nearby who will cooperatively chase away
predators (me and Scout), or nest-helpers such as last year's young. It
seems more likely that the former is true, but does anybody know if the
latter part is true (ever?)? Or was I just being mobbed by all of them...
