Several new features have been added to Tweeters. Dan Victor has developed
a user manual tailored to Tweeters, Hal Opperman has build a SAMlis list, and
Dan and I have worked on the Welcome and Information messages. Since many of
you subscribed when we were still working with UW staff to set up the service
you missed what is now normal introductory information. Thanks for your
willingness to use the system while it was being debugged.

If one were to subscribe today the message below would be included in the
response from the LISTPROC to assist you getting started. The information
message is an edited version that anyone can get by sending the command
information tweeters to listproc at u.washington.edu.

Thanks again for being willing guineas.

Steve Hallstrom

TWEETERS WELCOME

Welcome to tweeters, the Northwest birders email ListProsessor serving
Washington State, and parts of Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia to date.
Tweeters was founded by Dan Victor and Steve Hallstrom of Seattle Audubon.

What is Tweeters? Tweeters started around the end of 1992 with three
people in the UW library sharing messages about bird sightings. From this
informal beginning it has spread around the state, the NW and into B.C.

This group of birders is a diverse mix. Some are expert birders, some
like myself are in the intermediate variety, some beginners, and others have
just expressed an interest.

Everyone should feel free to send a message. Unique field trip reports,
interesting sightings, unusual bird anecdotes, questions for the experts, etc.
Tweeters is for serious bird discussions. Please do not send chat.
