Hi Clark,

You know, I wonder if it could be a Pied-billed Grebe. They seem to make
what I might describe as a kind of "barking" sound. The habitat seems
perfect too.

By the way, I recently counted 5 Pied-billed Grebe nests in the lilly
pads of Seattle's Green Lake along the Aurora stretch.
