Hello, this is Portland Audubon's Rare Bird Alert. This recording was
made Thursday, March 17th. If you have anything to add, call
Harry Nehls at 233-3976.

Birding has been slow during the week, with scattered reports of
migrant TURKEY VULTURES, TREE and VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS, and RUFOUS
HUMMINGBIRDS. SANDHILL CRANES and CANADA GEESE continue to increase
on Sauvie Island. While WHITE-FRONTED GEESE are being reported from
several different areas of the state. Flocks of EVENING GROSBEAK are
now moving into the Willamette Valley. Most of the reports are now coming
from the west side of the Valley. A GREAT EGRET was at Canby during the week.

An OSPREY was at Rooster Rock State Park, in the Columbia River Gorge, MAR 14.

Numbers of MOURNING DOVES have arrived in Central Oregon during the week,
as migration continues. A pair of RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKERS were at the mouth
of the Deschutes River MAR 15.

The SNOWY OWL continues to be seen near the town of Umatilla.

Two BURROWING OWLS are back at their colony at Hat Rock State Park, MAR 13.
