Russell Rogers' comments about frustration are well-taken. The WBRC
has had problems just because it's a committee, with 8 members none of whom
have been sufficiently dictatorial to move the group into high gear. We
have met 5 times and have made much progress catching up on a review of
records of rare birds in Washington since recordkeeping started. It's
difficult when there is such a backlog, but that doesn't excuse our lack of
communication to date. I can tell you it's easier to sit around a table and
vote on records than it is to write about them. However, this lack of
communication is about to be rectified, as we are submitting for
publication in the next *Washington Birds* a review of 196 reports of 85
species, from all the way back in the 1970s to as recent as 1992. Our
intent is to follow this up with another published report as soon as we can
meet and vote on all or most of the remaining unreviewed records.

Present committee members are Kevin Aanerud, Ben Feltner, Gene
Hunn, Phil Mattocks, Dennis Paulson, Jeff Skriletz, Bob Sundstrom, and Bill
Tweit. Feel free to nag any one of us, if you can catch us inbetween
leading bird tours, teaching classes, assessing salmonid populations,
playing the piano, monitoring oil spills, or having babies. We might even
be out birding . . .
