I'll just add to what Mike Smith said that Bottle Beach is a good place for
these nonbreeding summering shorebirds, although they vary in number quite
a bit from year to year. I've been studying them for some years and hope to
get something published on my findings pretty soon. If anyone out there has
any information on high-latitude shorebirds summering in Washington I'd
love to know about it. Also, I'm writing the Black-bellied Plover account
for Life Histories of North American Birds and am interested in any
unpublished data on this species.
