Solitary Sandpipers are quite regular as spring migrants through western
Washington. I imagine if someone made a point of checking small freshwater
ponds anywhere in the state, they'd have a good chance of seeing a Solitary
in spring. Adults are also regular in small numbers east of the Cascades,
juveniles in fall a bit more common--but they are less common then in
western WA, perhaps because many of our small wetlands have dried up by
August.
