We were headed to Wenas Creek on 1 May to look for White-headed
Woodpeckers and found some on the Umtanum Rd at bluebird box # 46, a few
miles north of the road to the campground. A female was on a
fencepost right next to the road; we came to an abrupt halt and she let us
watch her at close range for a few minutes before flying across the road to
join a male and another female on the trunk of a huge pine. A male
White-headed was in the pines within a quarter-mile or so S of this spot
on 14 May (Russell Rogers's birdathon trip). Does anyone know the size
of the home range of this species, and how much overlap there is in home
ranges of individuals?

Now we want to find Black-backed and Three-toed; any current locations to
look for these guys?
