Hi,

After some discussion with Phil Mattocks, director of the Washington
State Breeding Bird Atlas project, now in its 8th year, I believe, I
would like to propose that as a way of generating enthusiasm sufficient
to finish in 10 years we embark on an "end game" strategy of targeting
certain counties that are already reasonably well covered. I am hereby
volunteering to assist King County BBA coordinator Ken Brunner in this
task. Phil has provided me with the data for King County blocks to date
on disk which I am trying to decipher. I will prepare a block by block
summary of the numbers of species confirmed, probable, possible,
observed, & total. Interested volunteers may then select blocks that
have yet to be covered or which are still poorly covered and work on them
systematically this summer. Perhaps we could have King County ready for
a county preliminary report by Fall?

What say?

Gene Hunn.
