Recently Scott Ray sent you a post (via TWEETERS) regarding BLACK
OYSTERCATCHERS nesting on an "unnamed" island just off Rosario Beach.
True! This Rosario Beach is the marine station for the Department of
Biological Sciences at Walla Walla College, and the island is called
"Northwest Island" (I think that's an official name, not just a popular
one). Anyway, go to Deception Pass State Park in Skagit County and you
can view these birds quite easily (sticking my neck out...). Often they
fly across the little bay in front of the marine station and feed on
Urchin Rocks below Rosario Head at the west end of the State Park. Email
