Subject: Rare Bird Alert!

Hi, all,
At 10 AM this morning a male BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER appeared at
Marilyn Hatheway's feeder on Mercer Island. As of 11:30 AM it was still
coming to feed at her hummingbird feeder every few minutes. Marilyn has
some good video footage of it and Nancy Morningstar was shooting up a
roll of slide film at point-blank range when I left. Only slightly
anomalous feature of this bird is that the white lesser primary coverts
(I think that's what they are, anyway) show prominently as a broad white
horizontal stripe on the folded wing. For current info and to arrange a
visit call Marilyn at (206)232-6199. This is, I believe, the third state
record and the first documented photographically.
Gene Hunn.
