Subject: Likely Kittlitz's Murrelet

Hi all,

Just check the hotline messages and learned that Charles Evans reports a
winter plumaged Kittlitz's Murrelet off a small park at the end of Wharf
Rd. on Samish Bay. I don't know exactly where this is but their
description sounds good: extensive white on face with dark eye set off in
middle of face; small bill; not a guillemot... Could still be a common
murre I suppose, but the small bill would seem to make that rather
unlikely. Seen Nov. 1 to the north and east of the shoreline here.
Somebody ought to check it out.

Gene Hunn.
