Trip report for November 3, 1994.

This is a rough list and some counts of what we saw on our trip to BC on
the 3rd. The area is south of Vancouver, B.C. Recipients of the rough
draft please note the change in the street number to Boundry Bay access.

Boundary Bay, Crescent Beach at the end of Beecher Place time 11:00-12:00pm

200 Northern Pintail
10-20 Mallard
10-20 American Wigeon
10-20 Green-winged Teal
1 Eurasian Wigeon
6 ?? Merganser
40-50 Bufflehead
1 Common Loon
3 Great Blue Heron
1 Bonaparte's Gull
3-5 Ring-billed Gull
3-5 ?? Cormorant
5-10 Glaucous-winged Gull
300-500 Western Sandpiper
1 Sanderling
2 ?? larger shorebirds

Blackie's Spit, in the bay, we didn't bird the nearby slough.

?? seal, probably Harbor Seal
2-8 Cormorant
3-5 ?? Loon
Horned Grebe
?? Yellowlegs

Boundary Bay, end of 72nd street to east on dike, time 1:00 to 2:00.

4 Northern Harrier, all females
1 Short-eared Owl, perfect light to see wing patterns in flight.
4 Great Blue Heron
5 ?? ducks on golf course pond

along 72th away from bay, past farm buildings
2 Bald Eagle
2 Northern Harrier
1 Red-tailed Hawk (Near road to airport from 85th)

Approaching Reifel preserve, Westham Is Rd. Time 2:45
38 ?? Swans in field on left side of road.

10,000's of Snow Geese in farm fields bracketed by the two successive right
angle, right hand turns.
2 Great Blue Heron's, standing like sentinels, one at each corner away
from geese.

Reifel preserve. 3:00 to 5:00
100's if not 1,000's of Mallards
3 Wood Ducks
Green-winged Teal
Gadwall
Canada Geese
Black-capped Chickadees, like to be fed, followed us.
Rufous-sided Towhee
Song Sparrow
White-crowned Sparrow
Northern Flicker
Long-billed Dowitcher
Short-billed Dowitcher
Both kinds of Dowitchers were just below the steel obs. tower.
Sandhill Crane
?? Buteo overhead
