The Whooper Swan found yesterday at Summer Lake Wildlife
Management Area, Summer Lake, OR, is beings seen again
today. The bird was not on the display pond first thing,
but flew in around 8:15 and is still there as of 9:30.
It appears to be mated with a Tundra Swan. Marty St.
Louis, the director, indicates this is the 3rd year he
has seen a Whooper Swan there, the previous times the
bird was on an inaccessible part of the refuge. This
is, however, the first time this species has been
documented from Oregon.
