This question/perception comes up a lot, in various lists, as more and
more people start using email, from more and more varied services/computer
systems.

It is sort of like asking: "Doesn't everyone start out by shifting into
first gear."

Well, no, not if you're in an automatic shift car, or in a heavy-haul truck
with a big load, or on a tricycle, or ....

The point is, how you as a user are presented with a mail message
(and what the content of that message is) is very much a product
of the particular, idiosyncratic presentation software you are using,
further complicated by all the particular, idiosyncratic software that
handles your email along the pathway from sender to user.

Sometimes what you see and what you can do in your email presentation
interface is determined by "options" which you (or your friendly computer
center, or ....) can set/change. If an option is set to hide or remove (!)
some of the many email header lines (usually so that they are not so
obtrusive when you are reading your email), then you (or your "Reply"
software) may have been deprived of some otherwise useful information.

Don't settle for software (or "services") that throws away useful
information like "Who all sent me this note?".
