Speaking of Zonotrichia's reminded me of my youthful banding days on the San Fr
ancisco Peninsula. I used plastic numbered bands purchased at pet stores to ba
nd Golden Crowns. I kept quite meticulous records for many years of their occu
rrence thru the winter at my feeder. The oldest bird returned 7 years as I rec
all. I assume this is all old hat by now, but would there be any value in pub
lishing this info anywhere? This banding was (as I later learned) illegal, but
the statute of limitations has long since run out I imagine.
