Today, November 22 we saw a Gyrfalcon. The location was about a half mile
north of the Big Lake Grocery Store on Highway 9 which is east of Mount
Vernon, WA. On the west side of the road is a large steel garage with a
large driveway. On the east side of the road fairly close to the road is
a large conifer (tree) with the top 20% dead and bare, the Gyrfalcon was
perched on the very top. I took photos from a couple different angles
with my 400mm lens. We were able to walk up and down the road and
observe the bird for almost twenty minutes. We left when it started to
show some signs of agitation. My co-observer was Katie Sauter also on
Tweeters.
