A SWAMP SPARROW is still being seen along Plummer Creek on the
southwest end of Lake Chatcolet, Benewah County, Idaho. Dan
Svingen and I saw the bird on November 19. To get to the bird,
take Idaho 5 from Plummer to St. Maries. At mile post 6.3, turn
north, following the signs for Lake Chatcolet. Go 0.8 miles to
the bridge over Plummer Creek. There's a pullout right before the
bridge on the both sides of the road. The bird lurks around in
the cattails, hardtack and brushy areas. See Idaho DeLorme p. 60,
c-1 and -2. While you're there, check Lake Chatcolet between mile
posts 6 and 8, taking advantage of several pullouts, to scan the
waterfowl. On November 19th, I observed a single EURASIAN WIGEON
in the huge raft of AMERICAN WIGEON. Also a single GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE in with the Canada's, and a few female
GREATER SCAUP, RUDDY DUCK, GADWALL, AMERICAN COOT, and NORTHERN
PINTAIL paddling around as well.

If you venture up and find the Swamp Sparrow, please let the
hotline know.
