There was also a book that came out in the 70s (I believe) called _The
Nine Nations of North America_ which identifies the coastal strip from the
Bay Area (I can just see another discussion -- "Which Bay Area?") to
Prince William Sound. The capital -- San Francisco, of course. (Author
is American.) I would have chosen Vancouver. It's an interesting look at
bioregional economics and markets and such. Very US-centered, though.
