Today, David Buckley and I birded Alki with the intentions of finding a
Jaeger. Steve Mlodinow in Everett told me that he was seeing as many as 4
a day at Edmonds. Then I heard from Neigel Ball, who takes the Bainbridge
Island ferry every day, that he has been seeing them almost daily the
past several weeks. The past week or so I have checked Alki Point for any
signs of these birds with no luck. Today, however, the first group of
gulls we spotted had a dark phased adult Parasitic Jaegers in with them.
We were able to watch the bird for about 15 minutes or so. It was near
the big channel marker east of Alki Beach. It sat on the water for most
of the time not doing any thing, then flew off towards Bainbridge Island.
It is always a good day when you see a Jaeger.

We did not see much else of interest, with the exception of a male
harrier fling right up the middle of the sound heading north. A bit
out of place.

Other birds of interest were several Harlequin Ducks (at least 3 males),
2 Common Loons, and all three Scoters.
