Subject: Mud Bay confusion
In a couple of your recent hotline messages, you've referred to
"Kennedy Creek on Mud Bay north of Olympia." As someone who lives in
that general area, I'm confused by that message. Mud Bay is almost due
west of Olympia, and my maps appear to show Waddell Creek and McLane
Creek flowing into it. If you continue west on 101 from Mud Bay, and
turn north on 101 toward Shelton, you cross Kennedy Creek which flows
into Oyster Bay. This may well be the location you're referring to,
since there is usually a much wider variety of shorebirds at Oyster Bay
than at Mud Bay.
If you get any more messages about this area, you might want to
see if you can contact your informant for more clarity.
Thanks for keeping the hotline going.
