Subject: WPZ Raptor Center in Peril

The Seattle City Council is currently deciding the final cuts for the
next budget cycle. One of the proposals includes cutting funds for the
Woodland Park Zoo Raptor Center. If any of you have been to the Zoo and
seen some of the educational programs put on by the Raptor Center, you
know the value this facility has in raising the public's awareness of
the importance of raptors and the need for their protection. These
programs reach thousands of people a year and are one of the most
effective ways of allowing people to see and learn about raptors.
So, if you'd like to voice your displeasure at this ugly turn of events,
please feel free to write to the Council members at:
Seattle City Council
600 4th Avenue
Seattle, WA 98104

Your response should be "RE: Proposed Abrogation of Raptor Program"
and the first line of the letter should state your opposition to cutting
funding for the raptor program. From what I heard, the final decision
will be made 11/21, there is also a hearing during the day on 11/3 (but I
don't know the details - you can call the City).

BTW, does anyone know if the City Council is online and if so, what the
mailstop is?

Thanks for your support,
