Staff members of the Ecological Society of America and the American
Institute of Biological Sciences are in the planning stages of a
workshop entitled Ecology, Economics, and the Endangered Species Act.
The goal of the workshop is to establish a dialogue between
ecologists and economists on issues related to the Act, and to
develop a white paper addressing possible options to resolve
Endangered Species Act issues. As a mechanism to highlight the
complexities of implementing the Act, we would like design the
workshop around three key case studies that illustrate successful
recovery plans that balance economic and ecological considerations.
If you have any suggestions regarding case studies, please send them
to me, along with any accompanying literature that might be useful.
