I had a good view of an American Bittern on the logs in the bay on the
east side of the fill on 10/27, and at the small pond near the large
parking lot on 10/30. Over the last several years, it has usually been
possible to spot one of these elusive creatures somewhere at the fill
from autumn to early spring, but I have never seen one in the summer, nor
have I ever heard their distinctive call at the fill.

Does anyone know if they are known to breed in the Seattle/Lake Washington
area?
