Hi,

As Russell Rogers noted, he & I decided to chase Kevin Aanerud's
Blackpoll Warbler sighting at Vantage Point Farms (see 9-8-94 at ca. 1:30
PM). No luck with that. Despite the unsettled weather, there was little
movement at the several "traps" we checked between 7:45 AM and Noon. At
Vantage Point farms the large flock of Yellow-rumps Kevin had had
yesterday had evaporated. Instead after careful listening we managed to
turn up one Orange-crowned, two Wilson's, two Townsend's, one Yellow, and
maybe 15 Yellow-rumped Warblers, two Warbling Vireos, one Hammond's
Flycatcher, maybe 10 each of Golden-crowned and Ruby-crowned Kinglets,
some juncos, a White-crowned Sparrow or two, a juvenile Chipping Sparrow,
and a Winter Wren. At the Gingko Museum and nearby boat launch thicket
we dug out a few more kinglets, Yellow-rumps, a Western Tanager, a
Cassin's Finch, a Rufous-sided Towhee, 5 Cedar Waxwings, two Red-breasted
Nuthatches, another Warbling Vireo, and a mystery warbler that got away
after Russell glimpsed it. At the Gingko SP oasis up Schnebly Coulee we
added a Hermit Thrush, a Robin, and two more Ruby-crowned Kinglets. Best
deal in the migration department were the 8 Sharp-shinned and 2 Cooper's
Hawks that drove past heading south in our 4 hours of observation.
