I came across a group of half a dozen A. Pipits at
MacDonald Pass on the Continental Divide east of
Helena, MT last week on Sept. 16. One of the individuals
had distinctly pink legs. It was the most approachable
(I was trying to photograph) of the flock, a behavior
consistent in my experience with juveniles. It was a little
smaller than another individual with black legs. I didnt get
close enough looks at other members of group.
