Hello, this is Portland Audubon's Rare Bird Alert. This recording was
made Thursday, April 6th. If you have anything to add, call Harry
Nehls at 233-3976.

The BROWN THRASHER at Klamath Falls, and the [NORTHERN] MOCKINGBIRD
at Sisters continue to be seen.

The Finley refuge GYRFALCON has been seen off and on up to the past
weekend, and may still be in the area.

Large numbers of CASPIAN TERNS are now migrating along the coast.
OSPREYS are returning to their nesting sites. [COMMON] YELLOWTHROATS,
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS, SAVANNAH SPARROWS, and SOLITARY VIREOS were
the primary migrants during the week.

A male CINNAMON TEAL and a male BLUE-WINGED TEAL were at Jackson Bottom,
at Hillsboro, MAR 30.

SANDHILL CRANES are well scattered on Sauvie Island now. Eleven BALD
EAGLES were still on the island MAR 30.

TURKEY VULTURES are increasing, including one over downtown Portland
APR 5.

The YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS were back at their breeding site along
Briedwell Road, near Amity, APR 3.

BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLERS were in the Eugene area last weekend.

Two male GREATER SCAUP, a full-plumaged FORSTER'S TERN, and an EARED
GREBE were on the Prineville sewage ponds APR 1. Good numbers of [RED]
CROSSBILLS, WILLIAMSON'S SAPSUCKERS, and PYGMY NUTHATCHES were in the
Ochoco Mountains.

CLIFF SWALLOWS were at Spray, and 2 CHIPPING SPARROWS were at Kahneeta
over the weekend.

Several thousand ROSS' GEESE were at Miller Island, in the Klamath Basin,
last weekend, including 2 blue-phased birds.

That's it for this week.
