Subject: Baldie & kid (?) at Seward

Friday, while walking the loop at Seward Park, I saw a mature bald eagle
flying in close formation w/ a (large) juvenile (I assume). Or else
they're...good pals. They were gorgeous.
Saturday, as Mt Baker crew rowed shells to Andrews Bay (Seward) for
our regatta, the juvenile flew right over our boat and looked down at
us. We'd just seen a big heron, too, and felt we had many good bird omens.
Anyone else seen these eagle(s)? Are they the ones that "live" on Mercer
Island? Or might they have a nest at Seward this year?

PS A common merganser female has been spending a lot of time on the
beach on the N. side of Seward peninsula. Any ideas why?
